Hotel Description

One of the most iconic gay hotels in Barcelona, Axel Hotel Barcelona sits in the heart of the Gayxample and has been at the centre of the city's LGBTQ+ scene for years.

The brand describes itself as "hetero-friendly" rather than gay-friendly, a philosophy built around inclusivity, diversity and a no-labels approach to hospitality that has made it one of the most welcoming hotels in the city for all travellers.

The 101 rooms occupy a handsome 19th-century Modernista building, combining the architectural character of the neighbourhood with contemporary design and the latest in-room technology.

The rooftop Sky Bar is one of the best in the Eixample, with a pool, hot tub, terrace and cocktail bar drawing both guests and locals throughout the summer. On-site dining is handled by Nikkei 103, serving Peruvian cuisine, while the 500m² Urban Spa offers a sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, gym and massage treatments.

Convenient

Great location right in the middle of the gay area. Convenient for hookups. Excellent to use with Grindr. Just order the gay you want. Loved the please disturb door sign

Good location, poor hotel

This hotel is ok if it cost half as much. The staff is very helpful and location great. After that, not so much. I bought a premium room, it is tiny. the shower door doesn't close, the bathroom light is behind you so your face is in a shadow, the television only has about 10 channels, only Bloomberg Business is the only one in English. No sports channels on any language. It is supposed to be a non smoking facility. Its not. My next door neighbors smoked, my room reeked of their smoke. When I complained, the receptionist told me there was nothing they could do about it. There were a surprising amount of straight couples staying there since it is openly catering to gays. the roof top pool is small but the bar is lively. All in all I'd give this place a miss.
